Figure/Ground Communication’s scholarly interview series amounts to a number of in-depth conversation with emerging and established university professors about various topics related to education, technology and society. The primary goal of this section is to help graduate and undergraduate students become acquainted with the work, research interests and activities of various authors and scholars, as well as to inquire about their views on some of the challenges (attention span, evolving notions of selfhood, changing conceptions of originality, the quest for authenticity, etc.) associated with an “age of interruption” characterized by information overload. In so doing, I hope to make a contribution to understanding the changing nature of scholarship and academia in an age governed by digital interactive media. . . .
