Cfp: "Conditions of Experience: Language, Tradition, Subjectivity," Aarhus University and Copenhagen University, March 26-27, 2009.

Philosophical Hermeneutics Research Unit (University of Aarhus) and Center for Subjectivity Research (Copenhagen University). The aim of the conference is to explore conditions of experience in the tradition of transcendental philosophy. Both recent phenomenological approaches and conceptions which have some connection to neo-pragmatism show a growing interest for the option of a transcendental approach. The perspective on this issue is thus not historical; we rather want to challenge prominent recent thinkers to evaluate the possibility of transcendental thinking in the light of the philosophy of the 20th century. The concepts of language, tradition and subjectivity, although rather vague or even hackneyed, might still be used as orientation marks to investigate the transcendental option. The conference will consist of plenary sections, containing invited papers, and a PhD section, containing peer-reviewed papers. The conference is open for all who might be interested. Prior registration required. Invited Speakers: William Blattner, Georgetown University, Washington Steven Crowell, Rice University, Houston Günter Figal, Universität Freiburg i. Br.
