The Futures of Human Rights: Moral, Legal, and Political Cultures, Comparative Literature Program, University of South Carolina, February 28-29, 2009.
The idea of human rights is frequently invoked in national and international discussions and yet never has this idea been so contested as it is today. This interdisciplinaryconference is designed to open dialogue about the future of human rights. We welcome academic or creative submissions addressing the philosophical, legal, political, literary, sociological, or technological questions of human rights. We seek presentations that speak simultaneously to the issues of specific disciplines and to the general interests of the citizen, so that a common conversation can develop during the course of the conference. Papers should take no more than twenty minutes to read.
Send 500-word abstracts and 50-word bios to Meili Steele.
The deadline is November 1, 2008.
